Years ago the plan was to build a road from North Bend through the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie valley to near Skykomish on highway 2, passing by Lake Dorothy, but fortunetly either someone realized it was a task beyond current technology or they just ran out of money. The only thing remaining of this dream is a road right of way named Lake Dorothy Highway and a section called Lake Dorothy Road which was damaged 23 months ago by landslides and reopened February 10th 2011.

When you travel out into the Middle Fork, stay to your right and experience this repaired section, but watch out there are two one-way sections along the way.

The Middle Fork Road is open to the Dingford creek trailhead, which is about 15 miles up the valley. Come on out and enjoy this great place!
