The 'Way In', Made Easier

Another milestone reached by the county in making repairs to the Middle Fork Road.

Roads damaged during the 2009 floods in the valley are being repaired one by one, this past week marked the completion of the repairs to the major slide on the Middle Fork Road that was choking traffic down to just one lane. It is now open to two-way traffic and repaved in that section. The remaining Middle Fork road in the area of the slides will be resurfaced this summer with repairs to begin on the Lake Dorothy Road (upper road) to begin in August.

If you are wondering, the road to Valley Camp is perfectly safe for any and all vehicles, it really has been all along, it just looked intimidating in sections.

Come on out and enjoy!

The lower road into camp has been repaired and a new surface has been applied. The upper road is currently under repair with an expected completion in October.

As of today, here is the latest news on the upper road: Work continues, so the plan to complete in October has been pushed forward. The largest slide has been repaired with the second smaller slide repair being worked on right now. The road through these slide areas will become single lane once the road reopens. Stop signs will be put into place to allow for one vehicle at a time through the repaired areas. This I am told is the permanent fix for the upper road. Once the road is open we will post it here.
