Boy Scout wanders up looking for relief......
Was asked by a soaked boy scout, "does it rain here much?" To which I answered with a question, define much, days per year, hours per day or inches per hour? Then yes, much would be appropriate. To which a glare was returned as his response.
How else do you think we earned our designation of rain forest, and why do you suppose we have so much lush moss?
Blank stare........
Let's put it this way: we get 98" of rain every year, with 90% of it between November and April. (88" divided by 6 months = how much per month?) We are still in one of those wet months, right?
Soaked scout wanders off mumbling something to himself about wishing he would have been born in Arizona.
We enjoy the beauty that comes from so much rain, the green soft moss, lichens, ferns, cedars and yes, even skunk cabbage. You won't find to many places to explore such diversity so close to a major city. Come on out and I'll give you a tour.
