Came home from the vet visit to find deer standing by the back door today, I walked up to ask one of them what they wanted.......yep, you guessed it. He was not going to move until I reached out to scratch his forehead, probably not the best move, but still safer than Teena chasing off a large female cougar by throwing apples at her until she gets annoyed and walks away.
I guess my gesture was taken as an inappropriate advance, he jumped straight up and in two leaps he was out of there. Oh well, so much for deer training as a hobby, guess I'll stick to John Deere training and driving.
